Green means go.
Finally.
I remember being a boy scout back in the 80’s, doing our good deed and picking up trash bags that would naturally gather in the tree line behind the commercial center – the local hub with a movie theater, the local chains – remember, this is the 80’s, not everything has become a chain, or a brand, or a poster linking to social media, yet.
So we’d pick up trash bags, with the constant mind-wash that this stuff was dangerous. Fast forward to last couple of months, and lo and behold, the plastic conglomerate unanimously, effectively disappeared disposable plastics from fast food chains, and a bunch of other companies are now following suit.
And then, this article, as seen on CBC, which announces a confirmed step in the right direction as far as major brands, namely Unilever and Haagen Dazs, now being available in reusable containers, on the same model as reusable glass bottles, but evolved, called Loop.
I could curse. I could shame the industry for not doing this sooner. I could do the same to any industry profiting from theses plastics companies, that for years now have been amassing billions on an unsustainable product we’re now going to be working decades to eliminate from our ecosystem.
Instead, I’ll simply say thank you for taking steps in the right directions. It’s well deserved.
